The project is an automated system where architects and developers can submit their applications for online approval.
Speaking on Monday during the launch at the Imperial Hotel in Kisumu, City Manager Doris Ombara said that platform allows the end user to upload documents including evidence of payment and also monitor progress of their approvals.
“After approvals you download the e-construction permits. The system works in such a way that the applicant gets notification via SMS and email once the proposals complete key milestones in the system,” said Ombara.

She said that Sh25 million of the funds allocated will be used to purchase 100 desktops, 30 laptops and 20 tablets for the officer coordinating the programme.
“The Sh50 million has been used to buy the AO size scanner, printing machine and for capacity building for the county officers involved in the project,” she said.
Ombara said that the county officer at the relevant ministries and department can log into the system, view submitted building proposals and give feedback.
“The system allows the officers to all simultaneously review an application therefore significantly reducing the time needed for an application to be reviewed. Previously, an application would need to go through various departments, one at time,” she said.
e-Construction has been launched in counties such as Nairobi and Mombasa.
