THE RISE OF KISUMU CITY (KCITY)

Kisumu popularly known as Kisumu Dala (Home), is one of the most Important Cities in East and
Central Africa. Kisumu is a port city in Kisumu County, Kenya at 1,131 m (3,711 ft), with a population of 409,928 (2009 census). It is the third largest city in Kenya, the principal city of western Kenya, the immediate former capital of Nyanza Province and the headquarters of Kisumu County. Its Strategic location at the shores of Lake Victoria makes it an epicenter of commerce. let me not bore you with all these scholarly introduction.

As I walk down the streets of this great city Kisumu, things have changed from the Number of cars in the City. The hotels, Entertainment joints, Malls. "Of all places Kisumu never used to experience Traffic Jam." But that has changed. On 1st October came the Celebrated News Kenya Joins Africa's Top 10 Economies After Rebasing Of Its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This News saw people celebrating and reflecting on the Countries' achievements and reviving of The Kenyan economy.

Vividly, that explains the developments witnessed in Kisumu. Real estate development is the backbone of every development because wananchi have to abode somewhere. "Comparing Kisumu today and that of five years back there is a significant change". Explaining Mrs. Adada (Lions High School Teacher). "I can remember those days when there was only Format and Yatin supermarkets in the region ". The most observable developments in Kisumu are:

Infrastructural development

I must confess that the measure of any development in any part of this region is infrastructure. Given that since i was born some years back ,Kisumu had no-flyover . My 1st witnessing of a fly-over was way back when I visited the Capital. Those were the days when Nairobi road towards Awasi was not Navigable. when travelling to Nairobi could Painfully  take more than 10 hours by road. Compared to these days Thanks to the unavailing of Jambo Jet on April 1st 2014  with Ease I can travel to other parts of the country.
The View of Kondele By-pass

The Kondele Bypass is one of the celebrated infrastructural developments in Kisumu. The expansion of  Kisumu-Kericho and Kisumu-Busia Highways is also a significant infrastractural development in the region hence opening-up Kisumu to other parts of the Country.

shopping Malls

The west End Mall Kisumu
It all started way-back in 2005 After Kisumu-megacity shopping mall, then United shopping Mall. 2014  witnessed the development of  The West End mall, Tuffoam Mall and Naivas Mall at the Town center. An estimated budget of  over 200 million has been set a side for the development of a shopping mall by The Lake Basin Development Authority a long Kisumu Kakamega road. Due to the rise in population in Kisumu city attributed to learning institutions, banks, NGOs, and  Rural urban migration investors realized the need for  tapping into the Retail space.

Entertainment Joints

Due to the rise in population and  institutions in Kisumu. Investors saw the opportunity to invest in Entertainment Joints, for sure they have not been disappointing.
