She is a common name in Kisumu probably due to her style of music that incorporates Afro Fusion, Zouq, Bongo, Dancehall, Reggae and R n B music.
It is a passion that Elizabeth Adhiambo Ouko alias Nahna says was greatly influenced by her role model, Kenyan songstress, Suzane Owiyo.
At the moment she is working on collaboration with Kenyan sensation, Makadem, as she tries to venture into traditional Luo music.
“It is an area that has been gaining popularity as time goes by, yet it is not explored to the fullest,” she says.
At the moment she has three solos including Wanatok Tok’, ‘Hera Mudho’ and ‘Cheza’, a hit that she launched last week.
“I have not yet recorded the video and maybe if things go well it will be ready by December 2014,” she adds.
Her go-getter attitude has seen her perform with some of the already established names in the industry including Jaguar, Jua Cali, Redsan, Wahu, Size 8 and Avril among others.
ONE VIBE CONCERT
Two years ago Nahna performed alongside Jamaican reggae artiste, Clinton Fearon during the first edition of the One Vibe Concert, a thing that saw her crowned the Best Female Artiste of the year twice in a row.
“I first won the award two years ago and got the other one last year,” she says.
Nahna has also been nominated for the Vybez Awards in the best female artiste of the year, Song and Collaboration of the year categories.
The Vybez awards are usually intended to recognise artistes from western Kenya.
In 2011 and 2012, she became the first female artiste to represent Western and Nyanza region during the Niko na Safaricom Live Concert, Kisumu edition.
According to her, this is quite an achievement considering her short music career.
“I only started singing four years ago and so far I have to admit that I am impressed with my achievements,” she adds.
